Lido Protocol's wstETH Now Available on Swellchain

Lido protocol’s wstETH (wrapped staked ETH) is now available on Swellchain, a Layer 2 chain designed for liquid staking and restaking, built on OP Stack. This marks one more milestone in Lido protocol’s multichain expansion, bringing stakers more opportunities to use and grow their wstETH tokens across multiple chains.

What is Swellchain?
Swellchain is the restaking chain powered by proof of restake. The chain aims to extend Ethereum security through EigenLayer restaking while leveraging OP stack proven infrastructure for transaction processing and scalability. Swellchain was initially developed by the team from Swell Labs, who work in service as core contributors of the Swell DAO.
Why wstETH on Swellchain for Lido Multichain?
Bringing wstETH to Swellchain unlocks new utility and user access while reinforcing Lido protocol’s mission to expand wstETH adoption across multiple chains:
- Smooth bridging experience: Through the Superbridge interface, users can easily transfer wstETH between Ethereum and Swellchain. Built for OP Stack chains, Superbridge makes cross-chain interactions fast and user-friendly.
- Reviewed and approved by NEC: The onboarding of wstETH to Swellchain followed a formal approval process through the NEC decision-making framework, including audits, testing, and careful review.
- Accelerating adoption: This launch brings wstETH to a new and expanding group of developers, DeFi projects, and users already using and engaging with Swellchain.
- Expanding DeFi opportunities: With wstETH now supported on Swellchain, users will soon gain access to a growing suite of DeFi protocols within its ecosystem.
